Charitable giving is considered by most people as a discretionary expense. In other words if after all living expenses like the roof over our head and food on the table and other necessary items are paid and we have money left over we can choose to give money to charitable organizations we would like to support.

The Business of Me takes a different view of this as we believe that charitable giving should be a fixed expense. We believe this because of what is known as “The Law of Circulation”.

The law of circulation is simple; something good that you give freely is something that is put into circulation and it comes back to you many times over. We don’t always know or recognize what that good is but good always begets good.

No matter what a person’s personal financial situation is they can give a quarter to a homeless person on the street or make a small monthly donation to their church, synagogue, mosque or spiritual center or any other charity you believe in or organization that you wish to support.

A recent article in the Baltimore Sun noted that Baltimore’s homeless had raised and donated $14.64 to the relief efforts for Haiti. It’s an inspiring story: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bal-md.homeless30jan30,0,3352899.story.

The important point is to put something into circulation to give it an opportunity to come back to you.

Make The Law of Circulation part of your life.
