Here are some facts: at least 25% of all women in the U.S. are victims of abuse; the medical costs due to abuse are, on average, are 20% higher than women who have not endured domestic violence; the total annual medical care costs are nearly $4.1 billion for these women.

Studies have shown that a woman will leave and return to the abusive relationship 7 to 8times before she leaves for good adding to the increase in medical costs.

Most shelters and organizations deal with the immediate needs of the women fleeing abusive relationships and due to strained resources can do little to help the women once they leave shelter. In fact one shelter told me that once a woman leaves they may do one follow up call but that is all they can do.

Getting women to a safe place is vital but if we are to reduce the times women return to their abusers programs that deal with sustainability, in other words implantation of programs that help women create self-sufficient lives is imperative.

The Business of Me is such a program! And yes it will reduce costs and help women create self-sufficient lives.

The Business of Me needs your help. Help us reach out to help women become self-sufficient.
