My previous six posts http://www.thebusinessofme.com/the-business-of-me-blog.php all talk about the struggles nonprofits have and the challenges they face in the light of the economy and downward spiral of charitable giving and increasingly rare government funding.

I talked a lot about how important it is for nonprofits to be more entrepreneurial if they are to survive. I even posted a “real life” story of a nonprofit in the South Bronx who has lost all its funding and is in dire jeopardy of shutting down.

I offered one idea about how nonprofits can earn income (http://www.thebusinessofme.com/the-business-of-me-blog/one-idea ) and today I am going to tell you how “The Business of Me” is another solution.

Domestic violence organizations need new streams of income. One way they can earn that income is to partner with organizations that have developed “saleable” products geared toward helping the companies in their communities lessen the costly impact domestic violence has on their companies.

“The Business of Me” is one solution. “The Business of Me” is an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) and our clients are employers whose female employees in need can attend the program presented by a local domestic violence organization in their community. The domestic violence organization hosts and presents the program and earns a new stream of income on an on-going basis.

We will even partner with domestic violence organizations to help them recruit new clients (employers in their community) thus increasing the stream of income.

The employers win as the program will help reduce the costs each employer bears due to domestic violence. The domestic violence shelters win as they earn a stream of income they so urgently need. The community wins as it makes the communities a better place to live as violence is reduced, and of course the women are helped to get out and stay out of violent relationships.

Domestic violence is on the rise and nothing has worked to alleviate the suffering of so many women and reduce the costs to society. It’s time for a new approach and “The Business of Me” is the new approach that needs to be implemented!
