The Business of Me guides our participants through a personal SWOT Analysis. Normally when I tell people we use a SWOT Analysis the normal response is “Huh?”

A “SWOT” Analysis is normally used in business and is a strategic planning method to analyze the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of a business opportunity.  Well run businesses are always looking for new ways to make money. When they want to explore an idea for a new product or service that they may want to offer they use a SWOT Analysis to help them decide what their probability of success is if they do start to offer the new product and what obstacles they will have to overcome to be successful. During the initial session of The Business of Me our participants are guided to develop a vision for their life. As I talked about in a my post of September 23, 2010 “The Business of Me program works with our participants to envision the life they want and guides them to developing a plan to attain their “dreams”.

One of the tools we utilize is a personal SWOT Analysis to help them make their “dreams” (their vision) reality. We guide the participants to look at their vision and identify an aspiration. The participants are then shown how to use the SWOT Analysis to analyze their aspiration and make the best decisions possible to move from dream to reality. And that is a beautiful thing…
